Potatoes are grown in SR Croatia (Yugoslavia) at approximately 80-100.000 ha. In private sector it is represented by 98%, while in socially owned sector only by 20%. Seed production of potatoe in SR Croatia is mainly located at hilly and mountainous regions. Method of potatoe approbation is specific and consists of 3 examinations at hilly and mountainous regions and 4 examinations at lowland regions. When accepting the potatoe seedlings it is taken into account: ingredient of foreign varieties, dangerous virosis-leaf twisting (Sol. vir. 14), hard mosaic disease (Sol. vir. 3), lineness (Sol. vir. 2), curleness (Sol. vir. 11), combinations, mild mosaic, other viroses and alfalfa mosaic, white leg, powdery scab of potatoes, empty places of nursery plants of potatoe, limit valuable number.
