In Corchorus capsularis (white jute), the inheritance of yellow vs pale yellow corolla, brown vs blue seed coat and bitter vs non-bitter leaf is monogenic and show independent assortment. The 4-recessive gene recombinants resulting from independent segregation of selected genes, namely green plants with pale yellow petal, snow white fibre and non-bitter leaves may find application in jute breeding as quadruple test cross parent.
