Spanish; Castilian. Se utilizaron 5 razas: la forma silvestre o raza Piquin y 4 variedades mejoradas representantes de las razas: Serrano, Guajillo, Xalapeno y Ancho. Se concluye que durante la domesticacion el chile amplio su categoria de pentamera a hexamera y de autogama a alogama. Incremento el numero de gametos, tanto masculinos como femeninos. El numero de frutos por planta se redujo pero ha compensado con un aumento en el tamano del fruto y en el numero de semillas del mismo. La existencia de flores con diferente numero de elementos por verticilo, aun en la misma planta de chile hace que se dificulte tanto la identificacion botanica como la genetica de los individuos.

The present works was carried out to study the evolution of the reproductive system of pepper Capsicum annuum L. using 5 races: a wild form of Piquin race, and 4 improved varieties belonging to the races: Serrano, Guajillo, Jalapeno and Ancho. It is concluded that during domestication the plants changed from pentamerous to hexamerous and from selfpollinated to crosspollinated. The male and female gametes were also increased. The number of fruits per plant was reduced and increased the fruit size and in its number of seeds. The presence of flowers with a different number of elements per verticil, even in the same plant makes difficult botanical and genetic identification of plants.
