Respuesta de diez variedades de tomate a la infeccion individual y combinada de Meloidogyne incognita y Fusarium oxysporun f. sp. lycopersici.

Individual and combined effects of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici race 2 and Meloidogyne incognita race I on the tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) varieties: Tropic, Montecarlo, Ace 55VF, Homestead, Floradade, Manapal, Bonny Best, Rutgers, Short San Marzano and Long San Marzano were studied under greenhouse conditions. The treatments were: control, fungus, nematodes, fungus + nematode and fungus + root lesion. Plants 50 days old cultivated in pots of 25 x 25 cm were used. According to the treatments, 20,000 eggs of Meloidogyne and/or 5 x 10 conidia of Fusarium were inoculated per pot. The main conclusions were: a.-all the varieties of tomato were susceptible in some degree to both Fusarium and Meloidogyne with individual or combined applications; b.-both reduction of above-ground and roots fresh and dry weight, as well as number and weight of fruits were reported in plant infected by Fusarium; c.-nematode infections resulted in an increment in plant height and fresh root weight; d.-the Fusarium-Meloidogyne interaction did not increase the degree of wilt, but the knot rooting and the reproductive capacity of Meloidogyne was reduced, these effects caused a decreased root dry weight, above ground dry weight and fruit weight.

Se investigo en el invernadero el efecto individual y combinado de Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici raza 2 y Meloidogyne incognita raza 1 en las variedades de tomate Tropic, Montecarlo, Ace 55Vf, Homestead, Floradade, Manapal, Bonny Best, Rutgers, San Marzano corto y San Marzano largo. Los tratamientos estudiados fueron: testigo, hongo, nematodo, hongo + nematodo y hongo + heridas en las raices, se utilizaron plantas de 50 dias de edad, cultivadas en macetas de 25 x 25 cm; se inocularon 20,000 huevecillos de Meloidogyne y/o 5 x 10 conidios de Fusarium por maceta, segun el tratamiento. Las principales conclusiones que se derivan de los resultados son: a.-todas las variedades de tomate fueron susceptibles en menor a mayor grado, tanto a Fusarium como a Meloidogyne, cuando estos se aplicaron solos o combinados; b.-las plantas infectadas por Fusarium presentaron un menor peso del follaje fresco y seco, peso de la raiz fresca y seca y numero y peso de los frutos; c.-Las plantas infectadas por el nematodo solo, alcanzaron una mayor altura y peso de la raiz fresca; d.-La interaccion Fusarium-Meloidogyne no incremento significativamente el grado de marchitez de la planta, pero redujo el grado de agallamiento y la capacidad reproductiva de Meloidogyne, y causo un menor peso de follaje seco, peso de la raiz seca y peso de frutos.
