The object of the thesis is studying of regularities in variability and heritability of soybean quantative trait in Moldovian conditions, as well as isolation of genotypes possesing higher resistance to adverse environments and high potential yields. The results obtained from studying of variability, heretability of quantitative traits in F1, F2 and F3 soybean hybrids have been established to show the heterosis effect for certain valuable agronomic traits the magnitude of which varies in dependance on a particular trait, hybrid combination and growing conditions. The highest coefficients heritability in F2 population have been established for such traits of productivity as pod and seed number per plant and a number of productive nodes per plant. The analysis of the correlations between the trait in soybean grown under irrigated and arid conditions shows great variation. A negative correlation has been established between a competitive ability of cultivars and their yields. Consequently selection for the most productive soybean genotypes in a heterogeneous population seems to be not always efficient, since they can prove to be less yielding in a "pure" stand. The results of the utilization of the discovered regularities in variability and heritability of the final steps of soybean breeding have been established.
