The sunflower hybrids bred at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Yugoslavia), NS-Olivko and Goleador, have modified content of higher fatty acids in oil. These hybrids contain over 80 of oleic, while the content of linolenic acid is significantly lower. In addition to these hybrids, the hybrid NS-Delija which has higher content of proteins, lower content of oil, and higher content of oleic acid in oil was produced with the purpose to have stable kernel with respect to oxidation. Creating new hybrids having modified content of tocopherol in oil. First Yugoslav white - seed hybrid for bird feeding NS-Labud is in the process of approval.
