After the accident at the Chernobyl NPP in 1986 more than 9 mln. ha of land were contaminated by radioactive substances, 5 mln. ha being presented by farmlands. At present 95 of individual human dose is determined by radionuclides contained in foodstuffs. In this connection the problems of agricultural production management on contaminated territories which allow to produce "clean" foodstuffs are very important. The schemes demonstrating the spectrum of tasks found as a result of the accident and requiring the development are presented. The measures which have provided considerable improvement of radiological situation in the agricultural sector are described, namely specified technologies of soil cultivation, application of soil improvers and fertilizers, growing of agricultural crops, animal feeding, use of optimal methods for processing of the contaminated materials. Considerable reduction of permissible levels of foodstuff radioactive contamination, planned by the National Radiation Protection Committee of Ukraine, determines the need for further research in order to improve the technologies and structure of agricultural production.
