Social forestry: the need of the hour [in Bangladesh].

This paper has focussed on the growing importance of social forestry in view of the constant destruction of the natural forestry in Bangladesh. In this article an attempt has been made to highlight the main causes of deforestation in the country. Apart from this, this paper has made some discussion on the present drive in respect of Social Forestry undertaken by the centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific, Dhaka. It has concluded with some suggestions to make the social forestry programme a success.
