The experiment was investigated during rainy season 1992/93 at farmer's field in Sutopati Village Sub district Kajoran Magelang Central Java. In terms of plant height and garlic yield the local P-application over stable manure or on soil surface was better than that of phosphate -stable manure mixture application in planting hole. Net weight of fresh bulb, dry bulb and constant dry bulb as well as bulb diameter was the best in combination of 150 kg N, 270 kg P2O5 and 90 kg K2O. However, optimum dosage of N-fertilizer was 123 kg/ha, whereas an optimum dosage of P and K was not obtained because of linier response. In addition, the most economical dosage at marginal rate of return (MRR) = 1.5 was 121.20 kg N/ha, whereas for P and K, all treatments can be applied.
