The productivity of five hibrid sorghum for forage was evaluated on a heavy soil of Linares province (Chile) during the 1989/1990 growing reason. The experimental design was complete randomized blocks, five treatments and four replicates; sorghum hibrids were harvested at the dough state. The dry matter production was not significantly (P >= 0.05) different, the maximun yield was 15.9 ton/m.s./ha of hibrid Sudan cross-3. The contribution of leaves, stems and panicle was significantly different (P <= 0.05) between sorghum varieties, but there was not difference in the content of the crude protein, acid detergent fibre and soluble carbohidrates in the total dry matter (P >= 0.05).
