Investigation of Plantago major seeds from two different regions in Yugoslavia, showed that the composition of proteins and fat oil in both samples is similar, but there are some differences in their content. The sample from the Kotor region has higher percentage of moisture and proteins, while the content of oil is higher in the sample from the Belgrade region. Fat oils are characterised by high content of essential fatty acids (linoleic 53, linolenic 23). Unsaponifiable portion of oil beside campesterol, sitosterol and stigmasterol contains cholestrol (4) too. Biological values of proteins of both samples are similar and higher then biological values of wheat flour proteins. Limiting amino acid in both samples is methionine.
