Studies on the CCN, Heterodera zeae in Egypt. 3.-Variation in development and reproduction of four different populations of some corn cultivars.

Four populations of the corn cyst nematode, Heterodera zeae were collected from corn fields in four different counties in Egypt. In a greenhouse experiment, the development and reproduction of such nematode populations on fifteen corn cultivars and lines greatly varied. Two populations (Bahtim and Tanta) behaved, to some extent, alike on all tested plants, where they could reproduce well on all used cultivars and lines. On the other hand, the other populations (Belbais and Giza) failed to reproduce on some cultivars or lines. By using a suggesting differentials chosen from those resistant cultivars or lines beside Giza 2 cultivar, three physiological groups have been separated. Bahtim and Tanta populations could be categorized as one group, whereas each of Belbais or Giza proved to be two other groups.
