Effect of drought on photosynthesis and grain yield of corn hybrids with different drought tolerance.
1996
Chen Jun | Dai Junying
After 7 days water stress at booting, flowering and filling stages respectively, the grain yield got decreased for the three corn hybrids with different drought tolerance, and the severest drought injury occurred at flowering stage. The drouht-susceptible Xinhuangdan 85-1 lost the most grain yield for all the three stages. After the plants were exposed to drought for 7 days, leaf area and dry biomass of plants decreased, ears could not develop well. With the strengthening of the water stress, the photosynthesis of leaves fell rapidly, the chlorophyll contents in leaves decreased apparently and the structure of chloroplastids was damaged to varying degree.
