Black currant cultivar infestation with the twospotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch).

Number of mites was counted 4 or 5 times each of 3 season on 22 black currant cultivars. Most of cultivars were moderately or heavily infested, similar to Ojebyn. These include most popular varieties such as Ben Lomond, Ben Nevis, Blackdown, Black Reward. Relatively least infested were Risager and Mendip Cross cvs while relatively heavier Karilla and Kantata. All of the cultivars investigated must be protected against spider mite.
