This study concerns about the use of filter press cake from sugar industry for growing oyster mushroom (Pleurotus cornucopiae) in plastic bags. The mixture of sawdust and filter press cake is used in ratios. There were 11 mixtures altogether. Each mixture was added 5 % rice bran, 1 % CaCO3 and adequate amount of tap water. After 24 hours of composting, the mixtures were steamed at 121 deg. celsius for 15 mins. The suitable inoculum mushroom spawn added to the cooled mixtures overgrown with mycelium in 25 days was of 1 % at room temperature incubation. The plastic bags were opened and watered at the temperature of 26-28 deg. celsius. The yields were nearly similar in mixtures 1 to 5. The maximum yield obtained from the mixture 3 which consisted of 80 % sawdust and 20 % filter press cake was 235.05 g/500 g. compost. Low yield productivity was obtained from the mixtures 6 to 11.
