Performance of hens in the second egg production cycle after the intermission caused by addition of zinc to the feed.

Hens at 72 week of life were given a diet with the addition of 20 000 ppm of Zn for 5 days. The egg production and weight and quality of egg in the second egg production cycle were favourably affected by the force moulting. Upon ceasing the addition of Zn to the feed, the content Zn in the blood serum and in eggs of experimental hens approximed the Zn level in the control hens.
