Effect of selection for seed size and its correlated responses in Indian mustard.
1985
Gupta M.L. | Labana K.S.
Thirteen Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L. Coss) lines, having bold seed size, derived from a cross of RLM514 X varuna were evaluated in a field trial along with their parents and check varieties. Results indicated that selection for bold seed size from F2 to F5 generations was highly effective. RLC1359 and RLC 1209 were promising for 1000-seed weight, seed yield per plant and oil content, and these may be channelised in the breeding programme for the characters evaluated.
