Effects of water availability on the growth and physiological process of durian (Durio zibethinus).
1993
Mohd Razi Ismail
An investigation into the effect of water availability was undertaken on young durian (Durio zibethinus) plants clone D24. Three levels of water availability viz. 100 percent, 50 percent and 5 percent of field capacity were imposed to the plants. Leaf area, shoot and root dry weight were significantly reduced with the reduction in water supply. Reduction in water availability decreased relative water content and stomatal conductance, but CO* internal concentration was found increased. Photosnthesis rate dropped to -0.870 mmol CO2M-2S-1 at 16 days from the start of treatments at 5 percent of field capacity.
