Palikhe, A. | Fujimoto, A., Tokyo Univ. of Agriculture, Tokyo (Japan)
Rice is the main crop in Nepal in providing the staple food for the majority of the population as well as the main source of income for the mass of small farmers. Identification of rice technology currently adopted by farmers and farm management problems facing them is vitally important for planning any agricultural development projects in the area. This paper focuses on land tenure system on rice production in a village in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. Data were obtained from a questionnaire survey of farm households in 2004 and 2006 in a traditionally rice-wheat growing village in Lalitpur District. This paper consists of three major sections: land tenure system, rice farming techniques, and economics of rice production.
