This brief Editorial highlights three issues raised in the work of Must et al (Long-term morbidity and mortality of overweight adolescents). The first subject is the criteria used to classify subjects as overweight; and the second, is the relation of body mass index to the risk of ill health. The third issue is whether overweight adolescents remain overweight as adults.
