Botanical monitoring in perennial bioenergy crops

Introduction to the cultivation on agricultural area perennial lignocellulosic plants as a source of energy require comprehensive ecological monitoring, including biodiversity of weed flora. Bioenergy perennial crops can increase the diversity of landscape and habitats, in comparison to annual plants. The aim of the study is the estimation of a possibility of botanical monitoring in lignocellulosic plants and presentation of botanical diversity in the short-term growing of a few perennial plant species. Analysis of weed flora biodiversity was carried out in 2008 in the Experimental Station IUNG Osiny, on field trials with coppice willow, Virginia mallow, Miscanthus, Reed canary grass Jerusalem artichokes, and knotgrass. Based on authors observation and literature it was established that there is a need to prepare the methodology of botanical monitoring to this group of plants
