Hard ticks (Acari: Ixodidae) are important vectors of viruses,bacteria and protozoa. There is growing concern over their prevalences in association with global warming, as climate-related changes may affect the geographical distribution of ticks and thus the spreading of tick-borne diseases. In order to update the occurrence of hard tick species in Kikinda municipality, 116 ticks were collected from the 127 different animal species, dogs, cows, sheep and cat between August and October of 2010.We identified four genra, Ixodes ricinus was most prevalent, 61%, Dermacentor marginatus was prtesent in 24% animals, Haemafisalis spp. 8% and Rhipicephalus 7%. Intensity of infection was between 1-27 samples per animal. Becouse climate change, acaricidal treatments, especially during worm seasons when the amount of time domestic animals spend outdoors is reduced and the risk of tick infestation may be underestimated.
