Increasing soybean production on the territory of Serbia causes growing need for efficient control of all harmful weed species that reduce soybean yield. Weeds are harmful or undesirable plants, which significantly affect to the reduction in yield of crops. Soybean is a row crop species in which, as well as in other row crops, there is a wide spectrum of different broadleaved weed species such as: Abutilon theophrasti Med., Amaranthus retroflexus L., Chenopodium album L., Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop, Convolvulus arvensis L., Datura stramonium L., Hibiscus trionum L., Xanthium strumarium L., and of narrow-leaved Echinochloa crus-galli L., Digitaria sanguinalis L., Setaria glauca L., Setaria viridis L., Sorghum halepense Pers. from rhyzome, and Sorghum halepense Pers. from seed. In addition to cultural practice in weed control, herbicide application takes key position. When choosing an herbicide of greatest importance is that it is highly efficient and selective, so that it would not cause harmful effects to the crop. Implementation of corrective herbicides in soybean that is performed in weed development phase of 2 to 4 leaves for broadleaved weed species and 3 to 5 leaves for grass weed species, and when soybean crop is in the phase of 1 to 3 trifoliate is also of great significance. In 2010 and 2011 efficiency of the herbicide oxasulfuron + surfactant (herbicide Proxy+Extravon), thifensulfuron-methyl + surfactant (herbicide Nimony+Trend-90), propaquizafop (herbicide Gilan) and fluazifop-p-butyl (herbicide Patriot 150 EC). Effect of the applied herbicide to the identified weed species, 14 and 28 days after use and phytotoxicity were evaluated. Herbicide efficiency is presented as efficiency coefficient in relation to the number of individuals of each species with the control variant.
