Chryseomonas luteola is a motile aerobic Gram-negative non-enteric rod with yellow-orange pigment. It is the only species of genus Chryseomonas. It is opportunistic pathogen and it has been isolated often from clinical specimens such as throat swab sample, blood, urine and cerebrospinal fluid. It has been recognized as an uncommon cause of bacteriemia and infections in patients with underlying medical problems and in association with foreign materials such as catheters or prostheses. In predisponed people it causes septicemia, peritonitis, meningitis and endocarditis. Natural habitat of C. luteola is not well known and it is usually isolated from water, ground and humid habitats. The object of our research were three strains isolated from oligomineral drinking water springs at Vlasina area. Biochemical characterization of the strains was done using manual API 20NE system. In paralel the conventional biochemical tests were done. The results obtained using conventional biochemical tests were the same or equivalent with the results acquired by using computer program (Apilabplus V 3.3.3 bioMèrieux). Additional biochemical tests confirmed that isolated and analyzed strains belong to C. luteola. The percentage of identification (%Id) was 70.8 to 99.7 depending of tested strain. API 20NE system proved to be effective with the example of isolates C. luteola from drinking water.
