Literature review and experimental procedures have confirmed solidification/stabilization (S/S) is potentially acceptable method of treatment of sludges containing heavy metals at concentrations well above the permitted disposal without treatment or release to the recipient. This paper presents the comparative results of selected heavy metals leaching from the sludge solidificates. S/S treatment is simple, low technical demands, low in terms consumption, suitable for on-site, implementation, is environmentally justified, and results in a product that can be safely disposed of or even used for specific applications.
