This paper shows the basic characteristics and potentials of crop production in the territory of the municipality of Obrenovac. According to the available data it can be said that Obrenovac possesses considerable production capacity upon which modern agricultural production can be developed; it also keeps natural resources and enables the development of rural areas. The available agricultural soil covers 73,2 % of total area of the Municipality, that is 14% of Belgrade agricultural land. Plough lands cover 89%, orchards 4,1 %, pastures 3,9 % and meadows 2,5% of total agricultural areas in Obrenovac. As far as sowing culture is concerned, plough fields are predominated by wheat (corn and common wheat ) of approximately 70 % and forages (shamrock and lucerne ) of approximately 25%, whereas the production of industrial crops and vegetables is of considerably lower percentage, which points to the extensiveness of crop production. Around 70 % of registered agricultural producers deal with mixed crop and animal production, whereas 30% of registered agricultural producers deal exclusively with crop production.
