The paper presents the assessment of environmental impact of biodiesel production plant. Possible serious accidents occurring after starting the plant were simulated. The analysis of the facilities at risk, which are located in the vicinity of the biodiesel production plant, aims at specifying the nearby facilities which would be negatively affected by the biodiesel production plant. The substances used in this type of plants are considered as hazardous chemicals which are extremely flammable and low in their toxicity, and which can also be more or less dangerous in case of contact. Harmful effects occurring during the usual technological process of this substance can imperil people operating the plant as well as the environment. Therefore it is necessary to specify the possible dangers that might occur under certain circumstances in order to take the appropriate measures of precaution and protection. Proper operation and compliance with regulations are of particular importance to the safety of both people and facility.
