This paper shows the results of production and estimation of production of oilseeds in the world and also in Serbia. Long term estimations show that there will be an increase of demand and consumption of oil crops for 50% until 2017. The most important oil crops for local factories are soybean and sunflower, that are grown on about 300,000 hectares, which is sometimes insufficient for the purposes of processing capacity, particularly at a time when a low average yields are realized. Last year's total production was 900,000 tons of oilseeds, however, the demand was 100,000 tons less. Oil production exceeds domestic consumption and their ratio is about 1:1, in other words, half of the production is spent and half needs to be exported.
