A kinetic-spectrophotometric method for the determination of the pesticide difenzoquate-methilsulphate (DFQ) in citrus was developed. The method is based on the inhibited effect of DFQ on the oxidation of sulphanilic acid by hydrogen peroxide in a phosphate buffer in the presence of Cu(II) ion. A calibration graph is linear in the range of 0.36-1.80 microg/mL and 1.80-7.20 microg/mL. A solid-phase extraction (SPE) was used for the extraction of DFQ from citrus samples. The HPLC method was used like a comparative method. The recoveries were in the range of 93.00-99.10 % with RSDs less than 3%. The results obtained by two different methods showed good agreement.
