The effect of mineral fertilisation on the yield and component elements of spring barley | Vplyv minerálneho hnojenia na úrodu a úrodotvorné prvky jarného jačmeňa

Two-factor field experiment was conducted in 2004-2009 in Mountain Research Station (South Poland) on Com-bisol formed from flysh rocks (medium skeletal clay). Experiment included two 3-field crop rotations: 1. potato, 2. spring barley or its mixtures with other cereal, 3. oat with undersowing of vetch. The plot of 22 square m area was 4-times repeated. The first factor was fertilisation: 1. control, 2. mineral fertilisation (N, P, K- 70, 50, 70 kg per ha), and the second one was cultivation method (pure sowing of spring barley and its mixtures with oat or spring triticale). Applied fertilisation caused an increase of the grain yield by 12% on the average. The oat was less competitive in the field for barley than own this (barley) species plants and the spring triticale. The greatest influence of fertilisation was observed on grain filling, lesser on the number of grains in the spike and the least on the density of cereal plants.
