Nowadays, the importance and share of harvesting technology oriented at the woodchips production is reinforced. This article solves the problem of woodchippers performance in the production of energy woodchips. The objects of research were two models of woodchippers: Kesla Foresteri C 4560 LF in combination with the Valtra T 190 tractor and woodchipper Bobr 80 S in combination with the Valtra T 191 tractor. Based on the two parameters: volume of chopped timber [stacked cubic meter] and cost to the driving fuel [€], was done the performance appraisal. The results prove that the more efficient machine is woodchipper Bobr 80 S in combination with the Valtra T 191 tractor. This machines combination was also considered to be economically preferable in comparison fuel consumption. The average cost of woodchipper Bobr 80 S were 0,93 € per one stacked cubic meter and the average cost of woodchipper Kesla Foresteri C 4560 LF in combination with the Valtra T 190 tractor were 1,01 € per one stacked cubic meter.
