Torsional moment and engine power belong to the most important characteristics of combustion engines. These are the characteristics from the same area of study what oflen causes their interchange without deeper knowledge of their meaning. The aim of the paper is to acquire deeper knowledge about these two quantities. Main attention is paid to static torsional moment, derivation of the relation for engine torsional moment from its power and explanation why torsional moment and work have the same physical dimension. The findings can be utilized for the better understanding of the forestry machinery activities including apparatus used in biomass treatment.
