Water courses are one of the most important components of natural wealth of the Slovak Republic. They have priority in water management and are irreplaceable part of the country are of great importance for the functioning of ecological processes, conservation of biodiversity and ecological stability in the country. The adoption of the Water Framework Directive No. 2000/60/EC that creates conditions for ensuring sustainable use of water resources, while attaching greater severity strengthening of the hydroecological functions of the country. To achieve the objectives directive requires that we pay attention to the whole complex of biological, physicochemical and hydromorphological parameters that affect the quality of watercourses. This new approach to water protection allows you to create an integrated system for water within the European Union, bringing reliable and comparable results on the state of water flow in any region of Europe, as well as the same procedure used to determine the objectives and implementation of necessary measures to protect and improve the water bodies status in Slovakia and throughout Europe. This paper is devoted to the assessment of quality components hydromorphological watercourse of Drevenica Creek and understanding of the mechanisms and identifying the drivers of geomorphic processes, resulting in a structure morphohydraulic units.
