The aim of our work was to optimize molecular-genetic methods for analysing rabbit MSTN, PGR and ASIP gene polymorphism in a population of animals and to study effect of these genes on rabbit production and reproduction traits. We optimized PCR-RFLP, PCR-SSCP and HRM analyses for MSTN gene, PCR-RFLP and HRM for PGR gene and PCR-RFLP for ASIP gene. In terms of myostatine gene we analyzed fragment with length of 80 bp. In a population of dwarf rabbits was frequency of allel C 0.69 and frequency of allel T was 0.31. In a population of giant rabbits was frequency of allel C 0.56 and frequency of allel T was 0.44. In a population of broyler rabbits the majority of mutated allel T (0.67) over allel C (0.33) was detected. Associated studies, where we focused on effect of MSTN gene (genotype CC and TT) on growth rate and average daily gains showed, that there were significant differences to behoof of genotype TT. On a basis of our results we assume, that myostatine gene can be a candidate gene for rabbit meat production. In the case of PGR gene using molecular-genetics methods for analysing 558 bp fragment we noted slight majority of nonmutated allel G (0.54) over allel A (0.45). Associated studies aimed at the effect of genotype A A, AG and GG on litter size showed, that the highest litter size had does with genotype AG and GG. The same results were obtained for number of liveborn animals. In number of stillborn rabbits there were no significant differences among genotypes. Analysing ASIP gene polymorphism using PCR-RFLP technique we did not identify differences in our population and it will be needed to confirm this results with other analyses.
