Uganda - Railways Project

The aims of the Railway Project are to improve management and organization of the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC), and to improve the Kampala - Kasese line. The project will consist of : (i) strengthening the railways' organization and management through technical assistance and training to the new track repair and renewal unit, and the accounting and supply departments, also through preparation of a staff training program and a detailed workshop design for wagon repair; and (ii) the re-opening of two crossing stations, reviving of some ballast capacity, and providing track maintenance equipment and telecommunications supplies to the Kampala - Kasese line.
