This document contains a selection of projects concerning West and Central African countries (Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Togo, Zaire) and is presented in 3 parts: (a) An overview of projects by research discipline; (b) an overview of projects by country; and (c) description of project-content. The Special Programme for African Agricultural Research (SPAAR) emerged a an initiative in the mid-eighties to enhance agricultural production in Africa by increasing donor co-ordination in the field of agricultural extension. The SPAAR Information System (SIS) was developed to come to grips with the increasing number of activities. At present over 4000 projects are recorded.
