This four-volume report summarizes the conclusions reached by the Indus Special Study (1966), which investigated the water resources of West Pakistan, and outlines recommended development programs in the fields of agriculture, irrigation, surface water storage, and electric power. The first volume integrates the results of all the studies and relates them to the context of development and development planning in West Pakistan. Volume II presents the recommended program for the development of irrigation and agriculture; Volume III covers dam sites and proposes a tentative schedule for their development; and Volume IV discusses the prospective growth of demand for electric power and proposes a plan for the development of resources to meet that demand. Each volume has a number of supporting annexes, and an Economic Annex presents some of the economic work undertaken in the course of the study.
