本図版の魚はカンランハギ、ニザダイ科と思われる。カンランハギは尾鰭に多数の黒点があり、尾柄側面の棘の鞘は白っぽくてその周囲の黒色の溝と強い対照をなしている。やや沖合の岩礁に棲息している。体長は45cmに達する。熱帯性の魚であるが、本邦では千葉県以南に分布している。皮がかたいので、これを剥いで食用とする。
