Global bottlenecks in the distribution of marine Crustacea: temperature constraints in the biogeography of the family Lithodidae
2009
Hall, Sally | Thatje, Sven
It is often stated that members of the crustacean family Lithodidae share cold water preferences or restrictions derived in some way from their ancestral history. Prior to this study, however, the nature of this relationship between biogeography and temperature has not been examined. Here, we analyse distributional records to assess the accuracy of such theories, and comment on future distributional shifts based on predicted changes in ocean temperature.
