Samples and/or data were collected at 70 discreteoceanographic stations (Table 1) in addition to continuously sampling water depth, sub-bottomprofiles, Acoustic Doppler Current Profiles (ADCP), and flow-through sea surface temperature, salinity and in vivo fluorescence. This report summarizes sea surface chemical and biological characteristics (Tables 2 and 3),subsurface biological samples (Table 4), surface sediment characteristics (Table 5) and chemicalproperties with depth (Table 6). Summary contour plots of temperature and salinity show largescalehydrography of the western Caribbean Sea (Figure 2). Lengthy CTD, CHIRP, ADCP, andflow-through data are not reported here. All unpublished data can be made available byarrangement with the Sea Education Association (SEA) archivist (contact information, p.2). Theinformation in this report is not intended to represent final interpretation of the data and should notbe excerpted or cited without written permission from SEA.As part of SEA’s educational program, undergraduates conduct student-designed oceanographicresearch during the cruise. Project topics include physical, chemical, biological and geologicaloceanography (Table 7). Student research efforts culminate in a written paper and oral presentationto the ship’s company. These papers are available on request from SEA.
