Bacterial growth on TAP is accompanied by carbonate deposition, the number of some bacteria and quantity of others increasing with time. A 15% and higher copper content in TAP inhibits carbonate deposition. Copper leaching from TAP in one third of cases is influenced by quantity of heterotrophic bacteria inhabiting the paints and DOM concentration in the sea water as well.
