In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was realized an evaluation of malt samples which were received from barley (Hordeum vulgare) varieties of national and foreign selection with application of a small-scale malting M-3BX (RAVOZ, the Czech Republic ). In accordance with the spectral characteristics of malt samples in near infrared region there were calculated the predictive regression models of moisture content, total nitrogen content, extract content and friability. On the basis of the comparative analysis with laboratory methods, there was drawn a conclusion about the possibility of application of near infrared spectroscopy for the estimation of malt quality indexes. The presented method could also be used for the preliminary evaluation and selection of samples of malt with the maximal extractivity and friability indexes with the further laboratory analysis of the selected samples. Because of the significant deviations in estimated values of extract content indexes it was impossible to use the obtained regression models for the calculation of contrast of weight content of the extracts in dry matter of malt of high milling and low milling.
