In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was analysed the yielding capacity of Indian barnyard millet (Echinochloa frumentacea) sowing which were grown for green mass under different systems of mineral fertilizer application. At the solution of problems of provision of animals with high-quality forages with the balanced amount of nutritious elements it is necessary to work out the basic elements of technology of cultivation of new drought-resistant forage crops. The most important role in the formation of high yields of millet crops is played by the optimal conditions of mineral nutrition. As a result of the realized field studies there was revealed the dependence of yielding capacity of Indian barnyard millet green mass on the increasing doses of nitrogenous fertilizers. The maximal productivity of Indian barnyard millet in the conditions of Grodno region (Belarus) on sod-podzolic sandy loam soil was marked after application of nitrogen in doze of N120 on phosphorus-potash background P40K70. The mentioned above amount of mineral fertilizers made it possible to receive 482-488 center/hectare of green mass, that was on 115 - 121 center/hectare higher, than in a variant without nitrogen application. In this case the yield of dry matter content was 146,0-149,3 center/hectare. At the same time, partial fertilizing with nitric fertilizers had no advantages over a single one.
