In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were presented results of identification of initial selection material and new gene pool of long-fiber flax (Linum usitatissimum) on the basis of biometric analysis of data about the genetic control of indicators of productivity and fiber quality, phenotypic and genotypic changeability, and combination ability of modern varieties of long-fiber flax in two schemes of bi-parental factorial crossings in generations F1 and F2. Review of literature shows different results of estimation of phenotypic and genotypic changeability and combination ability of modern varieties of long-fiber flax according to indicators of productivity and fiber quality. In course of the study there were selected varieties, which are donors of indicators of fiber productivity, and hybrid combinations, which are promising for the purpose of practical selection. Research results showed that the following varieties could serve as donors of fiber productivity traits of maternal form – Praleska; Smolich; Tabor; Levit 1; ones of the father form – Blakit; Yarok; Jitka; Iva. Donors for fiber content of maternal form – Praleska; Antei; Istok; Tabor; ones of father form – Yarok; Jitka; Vesna and Iva.
