One of the promising directions of the use of lands contaminated by radio-nuclides is the production of renewable woody biomass on the basis of fast-growing willow. To estimate the potential of obtaining willow biomass in Mogilev region (Belarus) on lands contaminated by 137Cs as a result of Chernobyl accident, we used geo-information technologies in our research. Such an approach helped to analyze the data about the density of contamination of woody biomass and soils in Mogilev region, willow productivity and the coefficients of 137Cs transition from soil into plants. On the basis of experimental research, conducted on Krichev district lands, contaminated by radio-nuclides, we have modeled long-term dependences of 137Cs transition into willow biomass, which served as a basis for geo-information system and multi-layer electronic map of Mogilev region. This helped to make an enlarged estimation of potential of producing woody biomass of willow on lands of a number of districts of the region.
