The main results of the breeding work on winter soft wheat (Triticum aestivum) in the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Research and Practical Centre of NAS of Belarus for Agriculture" are presented in the article. Trends and methods for the development of the initial material for breeding of new varieties of intensive type are discussed. Theoretical and practical issues of the concept of crop breeding for the set of positive characters are considered. The characteristics of new winter wheat varieties with a list of their positive qualities, and their introduction into production are given. There was presented analysis of the following wheat varieties: Syuita; Kanveer; Spektr; Uzlet; Uzdym; Oda; Ehlegiya; Sakret; Kapela.
