Spanish; Castilian. Conservar los recursos genéticos ha sido y es objetivo priorizado de las instituciones de investigación en la esfera agropecuaria en Cuba. Un grupo de investigadores ha venido desarrollando una serie de proyectos encaminados al estudio y preservación del cerdo Criollo Cubano con el objetivo de lograr caracterizar este tipo de cerdo e integrarlo a los sistemas de explotación porcina. Estudiar los procesos digestivos del cerdo Criollo cubano, con la finalidad de conocer las posibilidades que puedan tener estos cerdos de transformar los recursos alimentarios empleados tradicionalmente en su alimentación, forma parte de uno de los proyectos antes mencionados. Parte de los resultados obtenidos en estos estudios serán abordados en esta breve reseña.
Show more [+] Less [-]English. Conservation of genetic resources is the first target of research institutions from the agricultural area in Cuba. A group of researchers has developed a series of projects aimed to the study and preservation of Cuban Creole pigs with the goal of characterizing this type of pig and to integrate it to systems of pig production. Study the digestive processes of Cuban Creole pig, in order to explore the possibilities that these pigs may have to transform food resources traditionally used in food, is part of one of the above projects. Part of the results obtained in these studies will be addressed in this brief review.
