Groups of lines of winter wheat with long glumes (LG), multirow spike (MRS) and normal spike (NS) were compared to assess the effect of individual morphotypes on agronomic traits under certain growing conditions given especially by gradated doses of nutrients and pesticides, and the seasonal effect. Wheat lines with NS and MRS were developed in Kromeriz, a group of wheats with LG comprised chosen registered varieties with various grain quality. The field experiment was based on the evaluation of 18 different genotypes (three groups according to spike morphotype) performed in two seasons (2009-2010 and 2010-2011), under four treatments (designated 0K, 0F, 100F and 200F) and in three replications. Treatment 0K is without fertilization and fungicides, treatments 0F, 100F and 200F are with fungicides and growth regulators, and split nitrogen fertilization at total levels of 0, 100 and 200 kg/ha. Individual spike morphotypes exhibited strongly different yield responses to weather conditions of both years. The highest yield was produced by NS (9.1 t/ha), than by LG (8.9 t/ha) and MRS (7.5 t/ha). Most sensitive responses to applied inputs were assessed in LG whereas MRS were least sensitive. We suppose that the larger area of LG affects positively increasing of the assimilation capacity of the spike and yield, especially at good health state due to fungicide application. Lower yields in MRS were caused mostly by low stand density and accompanied by higher content of N-substances in grain.
