ANÁLISIS DEL MERCADEO DE CEBOLLA BLANCA DE RAMA (Allium fistulosum L.) Y ALTERNATIVAS DE COMERCIALIZACIÓN EN TRES COMUNIDADES CANGAHUA – PICHINCHA 2002

La investigación se realizó en Pichincha, Cantón Cayambe, parroquia Cangahua en tres comunidades indígenas (Larcachaca, Libertad y Chambitola) Las limitaciones que enfrentan los productores, a pequeña y mediana escala, en la comercialización de sus productos, obedecen a varios factores donde el sector agroindustrial o mayorista tienen influencia en la formación de precios. Los altos márgenes de precios no representan utilidades sino un sistema de comercialización ineficiente. Se hizo un análisis de la producción, flujo primario, funciones de comercialización, canales de comercialización, márgenes de comercialización y estudio de mercado para cebolla blanca de rama, principal producto sembrado por estas comunidades. Se identificaron dos canales de comercialización: el primero a través del acopiador rural, que maneja la producción primaria de la zona, la negocia en Quito a través de mayoristas pasando por otros agentes de intermediación hasta llegar al consumidor final, encareciendo el producto y el segundo canal desde el productor que negocia directamente en el mercado a costos de operación elevados. Una alternativa posible es la agroindustrialización, deshidratando la cebolla blanca de rama, materia prima para la elaboración de polvo de cebolla o procesarla para comercializarla en fresco.

English. This research was carried out at three indigenous communities of Cangahua, Cayambe, Pichincha (Larcachaca, Libertad and Chambitola). Farmer marketing limitations at small and high scale depend on several factors, where agro-industrial or wholesale sectors have influence in price determination. The high margins of prices do not represent profits, but an inefficient marketing system. A production analysis, primary flow, marketing functions, marketing channels, marketing margins, and market study was carried out for branching white onion, the main product for these communities. Two marketing channels were identified: the first one through the rural compiler, who handles the region’s primary production, sells it in Quito through the wholesalers, going through other middlemen, until the final consumer is reached, and as a result the prices increase. The producer manages the second channel, which negotiates directly in the market resulting in higher operation costs. A possible alternative is the agro-industry,dehydrating the branching white onion, which is the raw material for elaboration of onion powder or sell it fresh.
