Isolation and identification of plant pathogens of banana in greenhouses and plantations of Iran

50 plant materials and soil samples were collected from different banana plantations of Sistan & Balouchestan province during 2004-2006. Fungal, bacterial and nematode species were processed and identified by current experimental methods for each group. In Baluchestan fungal species, Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, Musicillium theobromae, Colletotrichum musae, Fusarium sp. and bacterial species, Ralstonia solanacearum and Pectobaterium carotovora were isolated with frequencies of 29.3, 17, 4.9, 9.7, 17, 9.7 and 12.2 % respectively. Out of 11 identified plant parasitic nematodes species of banana in Sistan & Balouchestan 9, 1 and 1 species were belonged to Tylenchida, Dorylaimida and Mononchida orders respectively. The most important identified species were: Hoplolaimus indicus, Tylenchorhynchus nudus and Meloidogyne javanica with frequencies of 87.5, 75 and 87.5% respectively. M. incognita was isolated from Zarabad region of Sistan & Balouchestan province and this is the first report of this species on banana from Iran.
